About three months ago, I sold a 99 Escort LX wagon on the
emo princess
local Craigs List for Canadian $4,000 (about $3500) but it had half the

mileage you mention & was in excellent condition. If I heard $1500,

safety, & secondly about whether you are buying something cheaply that is
going to be a money pit as soon as you start driving regularly. If I did
a test drive, I wouldn't just rely on that (cars can be doctored so that
they will sound okay, & seem okay, on a one-time around the block drive).
I would aat least want to have it looked at by an experienced mechanic
that I know & trust & get an estimate of whether it is safe to drive & how
much it is likely to cost to keep in drivable condition. But that is my
take on the sitaution, & I tend to try to be extra-careful about things
that could go wrong & get me into trouble.

Chances are if it slid on the ice & 'bounced off some trees'
homeybear
then it may have incurred damage that you can not see - that car doesn't

have a frame - since it is a 'unibody', but it may have structural damage.

Not to mention the suspension/steering may have taken a pretty good whack.

I would maybe see if you could have a garage to take a look at it, & quote
you a price for repairs. I definitely wouldn't give them more than about
800 bucks for it. If they don't like that - tell them to quit sliding it
into trees.

The 'nearly fell into a lake' part should make you leery too - it may have
gone partly into the lake, & they hosed all the mud off - it could cause
problems later on too.

No. It is been in an accident. If it had not I might have
cuddley bear
offered $750.00 for it. The mileage is too high to pay that much. Keep

To get a car that runs, you will pay that much. But I would not

buy a car with that much mileage and that bad history because you are
